At Bell Micro we are very aware of the many ways in which our business impacts not just our customers and suppliers, but a wide and diverse range of stakeholders. Our employees, channel partners, the communities in which we operate and our extended corporate network are all important to Bell Micro as an organisation and we take our corporate and social responsibility (CSR) to each of them very seriously.
For us ‘responsibility’ is the core of the matter. At both the organisational and individual level we are happy to take responsibility for our actions. We extend this ethos into our business network, fostering ethical operations with our suppliers and enabling responsibility in the resellers that we work with. We engage proactively with the CSR strategies of each of our stakeholders.
In practice this means that we have initiated a range of programmes that are ethically rather than commercially led. As a key player in UK IT distribution we have strongly acknowledged our responsibility here by investing in our ‘GoinGreen’ campaign created as a focal point for promoting best practice around technology in business.
The GoinGreen ethos has been further extended into our own business operations, putting in place a far-reaching internal communications programme and policies around reducing the energy we use and our corporate carbon footprint.
Our CSR is also represented in the commitment we make annually to a nominated charity. In 2008 we raised several thousand pounds on behalf of the leading children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent and we hope to achieve a similar result in 2009.
We recognise that CSR is an ongoing commitment for Bell Micro and we will continue to give this issue real priority in terms of strategic input, resources and the way in which we report our business.
