Blades
The BladeCenter implements a broad array of open, industry standards, easing integration and its self-automating features allow it to adapt dynamically to your business needs.
Benefits of IBM BladeCenters:
- Rapid deployment and scalability – the modular design allows you to respond to changing server, storage, network and application requirements. Additional capacity can be created by simply sliding a new blade into an open bay. Rapid deployment of applications is enabled by sliding a blade into a profiled bay and the BladeCenter will automatically load the designated operating system and application image.
- Cross-functional design - The BladeCenter's open, cross-functional design enables interoperability across the line. Every chassis can support every blade, switch and ecosystem component designed for the platform. In addition to this, the IBM BladeCenter offers backward compatibility so there is no need to overhaul your infrastructure with every new generation of technology.
- Open integration – The BladeCenter’s hardware is based on industry standards to enable compatibility across a broad range of third-party hardware and software solutions.
- Simplified management - The BladeCenter Advanced Management Module automates blade management functions at the chassis level. The AMM integrates with IBM Director and Tivoli to simplify the installation. In addition the BladeCenter reacts automatically to external events - like power shortages - without human intervention.
